QuikClot Combat Gauze haemostatic dressing

QuikClot Combat Gauze is an effective haemostatic dressing recommended as the primary haemostatic dressing in cases of life-threatening bleeding. QuikClot Combat Gauze is 7.5 cm wide, 3.7 m long, z-folded, soft, white, kaolin-impregnated gauze. Combat gauze has a strip that is visible on X-rays. The product is vacuum-packed in an easy-open bag and has a shelf life of five years. QuikClot haemostatic dressings are impregnated with kaolin, an inorganic mineral that accelerates the blood clotting process. QuikClot bandages stop bleeding much faster and are more effective than surgical bandages. Several tests have also shown its effectiveness compared to other haemostatic products. QuikClot haemostat contains no animal protein, human protein, seafood or plant ingredients, so it is allergy-free. Kaolin also does not cause thermal reactions, meaning that all QuikClot products are safe to use. The United States Army Institute for Surgical Research (USAISR) and the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) conducted extensive testing and the Committee of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) recommends QuikClot Combat gauze as the preferred hemostatic dressing for life-threatening bleeding where a tourniquet cannot be used. Combat Gauze can also be recommended for use in combination with a tourniquet if the evacuation time is expected to be longer than 2 hours.
